The Bishop

The Bishop

Please consider the red line as the edge of the board, so we have more exercises for you.

1ab The bishop has 4 squares free and to beat the black rook(a) or bishop(b). The square occupied by the white king(a) or rook(b) is of course not reachable.

2a 3 free spaces and the black rook is to be captured. You cannot beat your own friends (white rook)!
2b Queen and knight can be captured, otherwise there are still 2 squares to occupy.

3a to hit 4 free fields and the white runner
3b 3 free fields and the "tasty" white rook

4a Here one should pay attention not to be hit. Either you capture your opponent or hide behind the king. The two white squares between the bishops are taboo, there the black bishop hits.
4b Only the marked squares are allowed. You can't take the rook, the king hits back there (even if we haven't seen this piece yet). This also applies to the other two free spaces, on one the king strikes, on the other the rook.

5a Only one square, the other 3 are under fire.
5b The black tower and king guard 2 possible target fields

6a The opposing king and bishop control a total of 3 squares
6b The black rook with 4 and king with 1 controlled square give the bishop only one option

7a The opponent's king and rook control a total of 3 squares
7b The opposing bishop does not allow to leave his diagonal, because we protect the king from check. So our runner is "pinned" and can only take the opponent.

8a The white rook does not allow us to move, otherwise the king will be in check. We are going to learn that! To such a bishop one also says "pinned".
8b If the rook protects us, we can also stand next to the king.

9a If the rook protects us, we can also stand next to the king. Otherwise only the bishop could hit us.
9b Only the white king disturbs us once

10 This is called "double attack" or "fork" in chess.

11 A small Formula 1 race

12 Without the rook in the way, we could do it in two moves.

13 Sometimes you should go backwards and make detours to avoid the danger.

14 This is the quickest way

15-18 You should now be able to do this without any problems

19-20 These tasks are a little more difficult. Here you have to move back and forth on one of the diagonals, then you manage to capture one piece at a time.
