1-6 The pawn that has reached the opponent's first rank is transformed into a figure. Usually you take the queen (several queens can be placed on the board), but sometimes it is better to take a not so strong piece, for example to achieve something like giving check (1-3), attack(4) or double attack(5) or to avoid something like stalemate(6).
The promotion not into a queen is called "underpromotion" in chess books.
